William E. Smith passed away on August 24, 2021 at the age of 73 in his home.
Bill was born on March 18, 1948, in Bethany, the son of Herbert and Juanita (Knight) Smith. He worked for Thrall Car for over 25 years before finally retiring from World of Power Sports. Bill was well known in the community as “Wild Bill” for his amazing artwork and his love of motorcycles. He could draw and paint anything you asked for and would not hesitate to give his artwork away or donate it for fundraisers if needed. Bill spent 27 years with the love of his life, Betty Ann Drone, who passed away three months ago.
Bill is survived by his two loving daughters: Twila (John) Stukins of Shelbyville and Tabithia (Josh) Buggar of Clinton; five grandchildren: Bobby (Amber) Funk, Tracy Gatheright (Eric Smith), Dakota Bowery, Katarina Lourash and Alexander Milspaugh; three great-grandchildren: Bruce Wayne Smith, Bella Funk and Corbin Slaymaker; two sisters and endless friends.
A special thank you to Hack and Bobby for being such great friends and always willing to help Bill out and to Evergreen for the amazing love and care that was shown to our “Pa”. Johna, Andrea and Tara, we could not have done it without you.
Bill touched many lives with his artwork and childlike attitude. He will forever be missed for the joy he brought to all of us.
Honoring Bill’s wishes, no services will be held at this time. Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family.
