Dean L. Elmore, 80 of rural Wheeler, passed away at 10:40 AM on Monday, March 25th, 2013 at St Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Funeral services celebrating Dean’s life will be held at 11:00 AM – Friday, March 29, 2013 at Latona Church of Christ in Latona, IL with Nate Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the Bailey Cemetery west of Latona, IL. Visitation will be held 5:00-8:00 PM – Thursday, March 28, 2013 at the church.

Dean was born on December 22, 1932 in Jasper County, IL the son of Homer and Mamie (Clagg) Elmore. He married Claire French on June 1, 1958 and she survives. Dean was a lifelong farmer and had worked as a construction worker for Bender Built in constructing silos.
Dean served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. Dean was a faithful member of the Latona Church of Christ. He loved his church, traveling and playing with his bulldozer. He was devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
Dean is survived by: his wife of 54 years – Claire Elmore of Wheeler, IL, 2 Daughters – Charlotte (Jeff) Burris of Mesa, AZ and Brenda (Charles) Call of Springfield, IL, 3 grandsons 1 granddaughter, 1 great grandson, 2 sisters – Ilene Corso of Newton, IL and Beverly (Paul Dean) Flinn of Milton, FL, 6 Brothers – Marvin (Dorothy), Merle (Rosemary), Vonley and Roscoe (Edith) Elmore all of Wheeler, IL, Sheldon (Betty) Elmore of Mason, IL, Loren (Norma Jean) Elmore of Johnsonville, IL, and a Brother-in-Law – Paul (Judy) French, Jr. of Lake Butler, FL. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Dean was preceded in death by his Parents, Sister Kathleen Elmore, Brother Alvin Elmore; Sister-in-Laws Charlene Elmore and Evelyn Elmore and brother-in-law Arley Osborn; Mother and Father-in-law Beulah and Paul French, Sr. and a nephew John Elmore.
