William “Bill” E. Jones, 80, of Lakewood, Illinois passed away at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2020 in his residence.

In keeping with Bill’s wishes, no services will be held.  Memorials may be made in Bill’s name to the Harbor Light Hospice and mailed to Lockart-Green Funeral Home, %Bill Jones, 302 W. Main St., Shelbyville, IL 62565.  Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville is assisting the family. Bill was born March 14, 1940, in Effingham, the son of Ralph Leroy and Lola Mae Brandt of Beecher City.  He attended Beecher City schools and graduated from Beecher City High School in the Class of 1957.  On July 26, 1957 he married the love of his life, Lila Lea Verdeyen in Corinth, Mississippi.  Bill worked for the Shelbyville Police Department from 1959-1967.  He then went to work for Firestone in Decatur and retired from Firestone in 1996.  He was an active 47-year member of the Loyal Order of the Moose #1294 and a 37-year member of the Jackson Masonic Lodge #53, both of Shelbyville.  He enjoyed his farm, fishing and time spent with his family.

Bill leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Lila of Lakewood; daughters:  Bonnie Crandall of Shelbyville and Candus (Del) Lorton of Cowden; son, Donald (Sylvia) Jones of Shelbyville; seven grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, William (Bill) Jr. and grandson, Kraig.
