Frederick L. Rodgers, Sr., 80, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 5:37 a.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at his home.

Funeral services will be at noon Saturday, June 2 at Hall Funeral Chapel in Effingham. Burial will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Effingham with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday before the funeral, also at the funeral chapel. Family and friends are requested to wear casual attire. Frederick was born January 24, 1932 in Iola, the son of Loren "Pate" and Ethel Elizabeth (Wright) Rodgers. He married Judith "Judy" Sayre in Effingham December 1, 1959 and she survives. Frederick was in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1973 serving his country in the Korean and Vietnam wars. He worked at World Color Press and retired after 19 years. He was a member of Full Gospel of Edgewood Church, VFW Post #120 of Effingham, Patriot Guard Riders and Road Riders for Jesus MM.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; son, Frederick "Rick" L. Rodgers, Jr. of Beecher City and fiance Robin Schafer-Pruitt; daughters, Brenda Sue (husband James) Brown of Effingham and Kelly Renae (husband Gale) Baker of Sigel; sisters, Barbara Harris (husband Ralph) Elzby and Glenda Blair of Edgewood; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Loren "Sonny" Rodgers; nieces, Mary Ann (Long) McCoy, Carol Headley and five brothers-in-law.
