Jane Ann Hannaman, 72 of Newton, passed away at 10:30 AM Monday, March 16th, 2013 at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be Friday, March 15, at 10am at First Baptist Church in Newton.  Burial in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton.  Visitation will be from 4-8pm Thursday at Blake-Buchanan Funeral Home in Newton.

Memorials may be made to Crossroads Cancer Center of Effingham or Southeastern Illinois Hospice.

Jane Ann was born on September 23, 1940 in Olney, IL the daughter of Stormy and Fern (Woods) Parr.  She married Tom Ackerman in 1959 and they had three children.  They later divorced and she married her high school classmate, Tom Hannaman in April 1973.  Jane worked in the insurance industry for 30 years both as a secretary and as an agent.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newton, IL.  Jane loved keeping her house tidy and working in her flower beds.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family wherever they were.

Jane was also an avid Newton Eagles fan and attended as many events as she was able.  Her battle with cancer was long and she wanted desperately to get better.  Jane greatly appreciated all of those who took care of her and tried to make her last days more comfortable and more pleasant.  If you knew her you probably remember her beautiful white hair, her great smile and her quick-witted personality.
