Gina L. Strelka Westray, age 50, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 4:54 PM Tuesday, June 2, 2020, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in the New St. Peter Cemetery in rural Newton, Illinois. In loving memory of Gina, memorials may be made to the St. Thomas School. Gina was born on November 16, 1969, in Olney, Illinois, the daughter of George Leopold and Imelda (Gonzalez) Strelka, Jr. Gina graduated from Newton Community High School in 1987. Gina was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton. She enjoyed crocheting, watching scary movies and had the biggest heart for children and animals. Gina also was an avid concert goer for bands and enjoyed seeing Poison, Def Leopard, Guns N’ Roses and Motley Crue along with many more 80s bands.
Gina is survived by: Sisters – Maria (David) Reis of Ste. Marie, Illinois and Janet McDaniel (Jim McHugh) of Effingham, Illinois; Nieces – Alexandria (Adam) Ruiz, Brianna McDaniel (fiancé Matthew Hecht) and Adriana Reis (Fiancé Brandon Bushue); Nephew – Nick Reis; Aunt – Evalia “BiBi” Van Arnam of Effingham, Illinois.
Gina was preceded in death by her parents.
