She was born April 22, 1928 to Chester and Anna (Williams) White. (Ruth was the 7th of 10 children.) Ruth married Jesse L. White on September 6, 1944. Jess and Ruth had 4 children: Jimmy, Charles, Williams and Patsy while living in Illinois. In 1951 they moved to Wichita, Kansas where Vicky and Mike were born. A few years later they moved their family to Winkelman, Arizona, where Jesse worked in the copper mines and they had Deborah, Janet and Jesse, Jr. to complete their family.
Ruth was a stay-at-home mother until Jess passed away in February 1971 at the age of 44. Ruth then had to work outside of her home to make ends meet. Ruth worked at a café in Winkelman and the Bull Pen Café in Hayden, until September 1976, when she moved back to Illinois to help take care of her ailing father. She worked as a waitress at the Steak House in Effingham, then as a housekeeper for Jack Graham. She also worked at Petty Printing Co. for several years and her last job was at Wal-Mart. She retired at 70 and moved back to Mesa, Arizona, where she lived with her son “Bill” until her death. Ruth loved reading, doing crafts, sewing, traveling, and giving to others. Ruth was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Effingham until moving to Mesa, where she attended Red Mountain Christian Center. Ruth loved God with all her heart and spent much time reading and praying. She loved spending time with her family. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Ruth was a loving, caring, kindhearted, giving woman. She put others before herself, up until the day of her death she was concerned with the welfare of her children.
