Lyle D. Haslett, age 86, of St. Elmo, Illinois passed away at 4:42 p.m. Friday, April 10, 2020 at his home in St. Elmo, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family.

A private family graveside service will be held at Maplewood Cemetery. Pee Wee Denton will be officiating. Memorials may go to the St. Elmo American Legion or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here

Lyle was born on July 11, 1933 in Avena Township, Illinois, the son of Robert and Maude (Hobson) Haslett. He married Mildred Ragel; she preceded him October of 1988. He later married Eula Johnson on July 22, 2002 in Pocahontas, Arkansas. He was a member of the St. Elmo American Legion Post #420. Lyle was a union worker for Crane Packing Company and World Color Press. He loved his family, gardening, tinkering with tools, country music, and attending Opries.

He is survived by his wife, Eula Haslett of St. Elmo, Illinois; son, Dan Haslett (wife Nancy) of St. Elmo, Illinois; daughter, Laurette Haslett Davis of Vandalia, Illinois; brothers, Don Haslett (wife Kathy) of Vernon, Colorado, Bill Haslett (wife Jonez) of Senatobia, Mississippi; Joe Haslett (wife Jamelih) of Springfield, Missouri, sisters, Wanda Julius (husband Dorwin) of St. Elmo, Illinois, Glynnis Wright (husband Dwight) of St. Elmo, Illinois, Twila Presnell (husband Paul) of Nokomis, Illinois; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Maude Haslett; son, Bradley Haslett, daughter, Judy Haslett; brothers, Henry, Wendell, Ed, Charles, Claude, Verlin and Bobby Jr.; sisters, Virginia Stracner, Shirley Reimer, Beverly Jean, Edith Charlene, Marvelle Yvonne; son-in-law, Ivan Davis.
