Mary Bonita “Bonnie” Rodgers, 72 of Effingham, passed away Thursday, November 7, 2019 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.

A memorial visitation will be held between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorial donations may be given to the American Lung Association. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.

Bonnie was born December 18, 1946 in Whitwell, Tennessee, the daughter of Nelson and Ella Mae (Mabe) Sweeton, but throughout her life, always knew Arthur Wilson as her father. She married Roy N. Rodgers on November 30, 1963. A lifetime of service industry occupations were capped off at her favorite of all, The Great American Bagel Shoppe in Effingham, where her granddaughter later met her husband. She devoted her life to her family and taking care of their needs.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Roy of Effingham; sons, Jim (Darlene) of Bloomington, Jeff (Kristen) of Effingham and John (Christine) of Morris; 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

 

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and brother.
