Marie Elizabeth Tate, 94, of Effingham, formerly of Stewardson, died at 1:10 a.m. on Sunday, November 3, 2019, in Effingham, Illinois.

Her celebration of life service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 8 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson with Rev. David Weaver officiating. Private family visitation will be held on Thursday. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson or Donor’s Choice.

Marie was born June 25, 1925 in Stewardson, the daughter of Harrison E. and Rose P. (Kruger) Fouste. She married Eldo C. Tate on November 24, 1943, and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2008. She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson and a member of the Ladies Aid. She retired as secretary of Tate Farm Equipment, Inc. in 1990. Throughout her life she enjoyed reading, playing cards, sewing, bowling, and spending time with her family and friends.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Donald E. (Sharon) Tate of Stewardson; daughter, Dana M. (Rick) Keller of Effingham; grandchildren, Christine (Brad) Slifer, Jennifer (James) Dorfler, Katherine (Mark) Mette, Ben Keller, Brendan (Brittney) Keller, and Blair (Aaron) Smith; and great-grandchildren, Dylan and Derek Slifer, Allison and Jack Dorfler, Kendal, Brayden, and Kolton Mette, Emmalin and Evan Smith, and a great-grand baby Keller coming in February.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and infant brother, Edwin.
