Frederick Roy "Fred" Reimers (93) of Effingham, formerly of Ottawa

Frederick Roy "Fred" Reimers, 93, of Effingham, Illinois, formerly of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, February 9, 2013, after a short illness.

Funeral services will be at 11a.m. on Tuesday, February 12, in the Chapel of the Good Shepherd, Oakwood Memorial Park, Ottawa, with the Rev. Garry Briesacher, Pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottawa, officiating. Full Military Rites will follow, with burial in Oakwood Memorial Park. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa.

Fred was born July 28, 1919 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Roy and Helen Rittmann Reimers. He married Betty Hamilton of Paris, Illinois in June of 1950. He served his country in World War II in the Army Signal Corp in the Aleutian Islands. After the war he operated LaSalle County Foods and was a traveling salesman. In retirement he was a long time employee of Sierra Motors in Ottawa and spent many days at antique car shows. He truly enjoyed his time at Uphill Grind Cycle & Fitness in Effingham where he had many friends. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Ottawa; Lions Club member and past president; Elks Club member, Moose Club member and a member of the Cadillac/LaSalle Club. He was a resident of Brookstone Estates, Effingham and a resident of Heartland Christian Village, Neoga, Illinois.

Surviving are his children, Dick (Deborah) Reimers of Effingham and Barbara Reimers of St. Charles, Illinois; 1 grandchild, Laura Reimers of Champaign and 3 step-grandchildren, Scott Mahon of Downers Grove, Steven Mahon of Oak Lawn and Stacia Mahon Chaplin of Chambersburg, PA.
