Lillian Lydia Johanna Sporleder, age 87, of Altamont, Illinois passed away at 3:17 p.m. on Friday, August 23, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, Illinois.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois with a one-hour viewing prior to service. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Pastor Marcus Manley will be officiating. Visitation will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Pagel Funeral Home in St. Peter, Illinois. Lillian was born on November 19, 1931 in Altamont, Illinois to George Suckow and Emma (Leppin) Suckow. She married Melvin Albert Sporleder on September 12, 1954 at the Zion Lutheran Church, Altamont, Illinois. They were preparing to celebrate 65 years of marriage this September. Lillian was a homemaker and a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, the St. Peter Lutheran Ladies Aid/LWML, American Legion Auxiliary, and was a volunteer at the St. John’s Lutheran large print Bible center. She was a volunteer quilter at the Altamont Lutheran Care and the quilters won volunteer of the year award last year. Lillian loved quilting, sewing, gardening, cooking, baking, and she also loved being with her family and friends.

Lillian is survived by her husband; Melvin Sporleder of Altamont, Illinois; one son, Larry Sporleder (wife Carol) of Farina, Illinois; two daughters, Joann Koss (husband, Larry) of Altamont, Illinois and Mary Engel (husband Tedd) of Farina, Illinois; one brother, David Suckow (wife Beverly) of Altamont, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Lacey Summerville (husband Greg) of Flora, Illinois, Pam Buening (husband Jason) of Teutopolis, Illinois, Scott Sporleder (wife Jen) of Farina, Illinois, Mark Sporleder of Edgewood, Illinois, Ashley Yantis (husband Jim) of Cameron, North Carolina, John Koss (wife Shelley) of Altamont, Illinois, Travis Engel (wife Jennifer) of Hurst, Illinois, Lydia Middleton (husband Cody) of St. Peter, Illinois; 14 great-grandchildren with one on the way; two sisters-in-law, Linda Suckow of Altamont, Illinois, and Lois Sporleder of Altamont, Illinois.

Lillian was preceded in death by her parents, George and Emma Suckow, and one son in infancy, Mark Allen Sporleder; three brothers, Edgar Suckow, Melvin Suckow, and Richard Suckow and one brother-in-law, Glen Sporleder.
