Ralph E. Verdeyen, 89, of Montrose, IL, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Montrose Cemetery in Montrose with military rites. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Ralph was born on March 17, 1930, in Effingham, IL, the son of Walter and Vena (Gilmore) Verdeyen. He was united in marriage to Marie Lewis on September 1, 1951, in Teutopolis, IL, and she preceded him in death on June 4, 2016.
Ralph was a veteran of the United States Navy having served his country from 1948-1952. He retired from Fedders Corp. after 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending winters in Florida with his wife.
Ralph is survived by his son, Tom (Connie) Verdeyen of San Diego, CA; daughter, Cathy (Clete) Rentfrow of Effingham; grandchildren, Tina Gwizdalski of Naples, FL, Shelley (David) Beery of Monticello, Kyle (Elizabeth) Rentfrow of Mt. Vernon, and David Verdeyen of Sheridan, WY; great-grandchildren, Blake Gwizdalski, Sophia Beery, Isabella Beery, Kylee Rentfrow, Adam Verdeyen, and Koren Verdeyen.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Marie; brother, Carl Verdeyen; and sister, Marie Fletcher.
