Jean O. Carr, 83, of Hidalgo, Illinois passed away at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 21, 2012 at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Ind.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26 at Hidalgo Independent Christian Church. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery, rural Hidalgo. Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Jean was born May 7, 1929, the son of Clarence and Iva (Burwell) Carr in Jasper County. He married Rosemary Romack. He was a lifelong farmer and also was a Pioneer Seed salesman for 34 years. Jean was a Christian man and a member of the Hidalgo Independent Christian Church. In his teens he ran his dad's pool hall in Hidalgo.

Jean is survived by his loving wife; son, Jeff (wife Betty) Carr of Hidalgo; daughter, Kathy (husband Jim) Wagner of Newton; grandchildren, Melisa (husband Brian) Griffith of Hidalgo, Beth (husband Roy) Landers of  Salem, Jeanne (husband Jamie) Judson and Amanda Carr of Hidalgo, Karrie (husband Jason) Stark of Robinson, Jason (wife Darleta) Wagner of Newton and Kylee (husband Jon) Julius of Neoga; nine great-grandchildren.

Jean was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Robert Earl, Victor and Ernest Carr and sister, Rozella Tharp.
