Nicholas Adam "Nick" Riel (31) of Centralia

Nicholas Adam “Nick” Riel, age 31, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 3:51 A.M. Saturday, June 29, 2019, in Marion County, Illinois.

He was born on December 21, 1987, in Bartow, Florida, the son of Daniel Ferguson and Lisa Marie Riel. He married Mary Beth Budde on June 23, 2014, in Effingham, Illinois, and she survives him in Centralia, Illinois.

In addition to his loving wife of 5 years, Nick is survived by his children, Jaden Riel, Tyler Riel, Alissa Riel and Josie Riel; mother, Lisa Marie Hampton and husband Paul of Mineral Wells, West Virginia; father, Daniel Ferguson of Robinson, Illinois; mother-in-law, Janice Budde and father-in-law, Gary Budde of Effingham, Illinois; sister, Crystal Pecket and husband Jason of Lakeland, Florida; brother, John Matthew Arel of Lakeland, Florida; step-brothers, Paul English and wife Ginny of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Jesse Mercer and wife Kaylea of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Michael Hampton of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; step-sister, Tara Davis of El Paso, Texas and many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Nick was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Betty Royland, Raymond Riel and Edward Royland; paternal grandparents, Billy Joe Ferguson and Dorothy Louis Ferguson and uncles, Carl Riel, Raymond Riel and Edward Royland, Jr..

Nick was to start his new position with Swan Corporation in Centralia, Illinois. He was formerly a laborer with Schutt Sports Manufacturing Company in Salem, Illinois. He lived the last year in Centralia, Illinois and previously lived in Louisville, Illinois and Effingham, Illinois. Nick was known to be full of life and full of love for everyone. He cherished the time he spent with his family and all the activities they shared together. He went with his wife, Mary, on Friday nights to sing Karaoke and danced with her during the slow songs. He visited Mary at work and had lunch with her and traveled with Mary to her mom’s house and took them out to lunch. He would have date nights with Mary and took her out to Tequila’s Restaurant. Nick took long walks with his family, played football with Tyler, played basketball with Jaden and played dolls with his girls. He took his children to the lake or the community pool to go swimming. He enjoyed playing his Xbox video games and singing with his kids. Nick enjoyed talking with his mother and sister on the phone. He loved playing football since the age of 5 as he played in the Peewee League and Jr. Football League.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 5, 2019, at Christ’s Church at 2511 South Veterans Drive in Effingham, Illinois 62401 with Pastor Bryce Ash and Pastor Brian Swope officiating. Friends are invited to meet with Mr. Riel’s family from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. on Friday. Funeral arrangements are in the care of Moran Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.
