Daniel R. “Dan” Esker, 59, passed away Saturday, June 22, 2019 at his home in Teutopolis.

A memorial mass will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to time of mass Thursday afternoon at the church. Memorial donations may be made to HSHS St. Anthony’s Hospice or to the wishes of Dan’s family. Dan was born December 20, 1959 in Effingham, the son of Louis and Matilda (Hoene) Esker. Dan graduated in 1979 from the Teutopolis High School. He was united in marriage to Cathy Line on October 4, 1987. Welding was his passion and he worked over the years with Bierman’s Welding and Sanitation Services. He was also a self-employed welder. Dan enjoyed fishing, turkey hunting, golfing, mushroom hunting, supporting his daughter’s music and loved spending time with family and friends.

Dan is survived by his daughter, Dakota of Nashville, TN; brothers, Roger, Louis (Darlene) Esker, Dave (Barb) Esker and Mike (Sanora) Esker; sisters, Karen (Bruce) Weber, Ruth (Bob) Einhorn and Alice (Terry) Gephart; brother-in-law, David Probst.

Dan was preceded in death by wife, Cathy; sister, Marlene Probst and his parents, Louis Esker, Matilda Esker-Bierman and Lawrence Bierman.
