Dwight E. Rentfro, 90, of Stewardson, Illinois, passed away at 11:31 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 23 at the Stewardson United Methodist Church in Stewardson with Pastor David Ducommon officiating.  Burial will take place in Stewardson Cemetery in Stewardson.  Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the church.  Memorials may be given in Dwight’s name to the Stewardson United Methodist Church.  Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson is assisting the family.

Dwight was born December 15, 1928, in Effingham, the son of William and Sarah (Ramsey) Rentfro.  He was united in holy matrimony to Ruby Worley June 12, 1949, in Stewardson and they were blessed with 58 years together before her passing May 19, 2008. Dwight farmed in the Stewardson area and was part of the family at Tate Farm Equipment in Stewardson for over 20 years.  He was an active member of the Stewardson United Methodist Church and a 50-year active member of the Stewardson Lions Club.  Dwight enjoyed attending tractor pulls and reading newspapers.  

Surviving are his four children, Dean (Karen) Rentfro of Strasburg, Keith Rentfro of Stewardson, Diana (David) Boyer of Strasburg and Greg Rentfro of Strasburg; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter-in-law, Kathy Rentfro; one great-great-grandson, Gabriel; three brothers, Lloyd, Delbert and William G. Rentfro and three sisters, Marie, Vera and Ione.
