Leona G. Baker, 85, of Newton, Illinois formerly of Hidalgo and Sigel, passed away at 11:45 A.M. Sunday June 16, 2019,in her residence.

She was born December 21, 1933, in Cumberland County, Illinois, the daughter of Claude and Clara (Hingson) Yocum. She married Norman E. Baker, July 19, 1950 in Effingham. Leona was a retired Restaurant cook and Housewife.

Mrs. Baker leaves her husband, Norman of Newton; eight sons, Alan Baker of Sigel, Tony Baker and special friend Tracy Lidster of Watson, Jerry Baker of Mattoon, Jack Baker of Effingham, Carl Baker of Wheeler, Jimmy Baker (Lyndel) of Watson, Gale Baker (Kelly) of Effingham and Roger Baker and special friend Debra Webb of Mattoon; two daughters, Debbie White (Terry) of Toledo and Barbara Apke (Paul) of Neoga; one sister, Betty Utley of Bethany. several grandchildren and great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Clifford Baker two brothers, Richard and Earl Yocum; and five grandchildren, Jacklin Apke, Tanya Gerphart, Charles Kaufman, Brittany Baker and Casara Holland: one great grandson, Reid Baker.

A Celebration of Leona's life will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 22 in the Swengel - O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, with Pastor Jim Whitaker officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in the St. Michael Cemetery of Sigel.
