Richard L. Miller, 77, of Altamont, died at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, June 2nd, 2019 at Willowbrook Memory Care, Effingham.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 5 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont with Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont and for one hour prior to service time at the church. Richard Louis Miller was born on Thursday, August 28th, 1941 in Altamont to Elmer and Sophia (Yagow) Miller. He married Edith Yagow on September 30th, 1962 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Richard was a faithful member and long-time usher and trustee at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont. He was a Mound Township trustee for many years and was a 30-year member of the Altamont Volunteer Fire Department, and a member of the Mill Road Threshermen. He enjoyed going to auctions and collecting antiques. His working career began at Altamont Lumber and Grain and continued at Grobengieser Sons, BASF/Flint Ink, Salem, and at Wright Furniture and Wright at Home Interiors.

In addition to his wife of over 56 years, he is survived by; sisters-in-law, Evelyn (Jim) Shumaker and Margaret Miller both of Altamont; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by; his parents, his brother Norman and a brother in infancy, Franklin.
