Scott Alan Beals (55) of Great Bend, Kansas, formerly of Effingham

Scott Alan Beals, 55, of Great Bend, KS, formerly from Effingham, IL, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Kansas City University Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, May 26, at 2:30 PM at the First Christian Church, 901 N. Henrietta St., Effingham, IL. Visitation will be held from 1 PM to 2:30 PM prior to the service with burial afterwards at the Ramsey Cemetery in rural Effingham. After the burial, friends and family are invited to the Stewardson Community Building in Stewardson, IL for food and fellowship. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Heart Association or donor’s choice. There will also be a memorial fund set up at Dieterich Bank as of Thursday.

Scott was born on March 15, 1964 in Effingham, IL, the son of Emil (Shorty) and E. Lee Beals. He is survived by his parents; wife, Arsenia Darling, of Great Bend, KS; son, Jordan Beals, of Effingham; daughter, Allison (Eric) Ostrowski of Muskogee, OK; sisters, Debbie (Michael V.) Borries of rural Effingham; and Michele (Brent) Vonderheide of rural Shumway; granddaughter, Emilia Ostrowski; step-children, Jennifer Weaver of Windsor, CO; Shawn Colton of Ellenwood, KS; and Angel Darling of Colorado Springs, CO; 8 step-grandchildren; and three nephews.

Scott attended Stewardson-Strasburg High School; travel school in Kissimmee, FL; and learned technical computer skills through correspondence school. He previously had been employed at Patterson Dental in Effingham and Colorado; and most recently had worked remotely as Physicians’ Technical Support for eviCore Health Systems.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
