Lloyd Ziegler, 85, of Effingham passed away Wednesday afternoon, May 15, 2019, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana IL. 

A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 am Monday, May 20 at St. Anthony Church in Effingham IL. Visitation will be from 3:00 - 6:00 pm on Sunday at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham IL. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery with military rites. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Effingham Knights of Columbus. 

Lloyd was born January 19, 1934 in rural Effingham, the third child and oldest son of Kurt W and Ethel (Wagner) Ziegler. He married Arlene Martens on October 7, 1961 and she preceded him in death on July 3, 1999. Lloyd graduated from Effingham HS in 1953. He began his Navy service shortly thereafter, serving 4 years from ’53-’57. After a short stint working on the railroad, he began a 30 year career with Sears Roebuck & Co in Effingham. He greatly enjoyed playing cards, playing golf, dancing and working on small woodworking projects. He especially enjoyed his grandkids and great grandkids. They always brought a smile to his face and joy to his heart. Lloyd was a member of St Anthony Church, Effingham Knights of Columbus Council 665 and American Legion Post #120. 

Lloyd is survived by his sons Michael W (Jane) of Teutopolis IL and Steve (special friend Devon Perkins) of Mt. Zion, and daughter Sherri (Jeff) Wohltman of Effingham; grandchildren Rob (Lilly) Ziegler of Wildwood MO, Tyler (Melissa) Ziegler of Teutopolis, Holly (Scott) Gnuse of Mackinaw IL, Jeremy Wohltman of Houston TX and Jason Wohltman of Houston TX; great grandchildren Luke, Charlie, Natalie and Cara Ziegler of Teutopolis and Oliver Ziegler of Wildwood MO; brothers Bob of Plano TX, John (Pat) of Culver City CA, Ron (Tess) of Chatham IL and Dale (Marsha) of Greenup IL; sisters Judy Ziegler of Effingham and Shirley Ziegler of Branson MO. Lloyd is also survived by long time special friend Judy Colburn of Effingham. They enjoyed many trips together, playing cards, dancing and spending their winters together in Bradenton FL. 

Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother Melvin Ziegler and sisters Mardell Carter and Wanda Eubank.
