Fredrick “Rick” James, age 55, of Watson, Illinois passed away peacefully at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, May 11, 2019 after a long battle with cancer.

Visitation will be from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood, Illinois. Graveside service will follow at Watson Cemetery in Watson, Illinois. Memorials may go to the family or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.

Rick was born on July 26, 1963 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Lee Eugene “Bud” James Jr. and Doris Imogene (Culver) James. He was a 1982 graduate of Effingham High School. Rick worked several years in the concrete business. He worked many years for a wonderful friend, Jerry Jansen. He was a member of the Sons of The American Legion. Rick enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, deer hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his mother, Doris Imogene James of Effingham, Illinois; step-mother, Elsie James of Watson, Illinois; two brothers, Richard James (wife Angela) of Effingham, Illinois and Robert James (wife Brenda) of Watson, Illinois; two sisters, Janie Phillips and Jeanie James both of Effingham, Illinois; step-sister, Velvet Kaiser (husband Bart) of Edgewood, Illinois; several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Eugene “Bud” James; grandparents; one cousin, Andy Culver; one niece, Shannon James.
