Pauletta Will (84) of Teutopolis

Pauletta Will, 84 of Teutopolis, passed away Thursday afternoon, May 9, 2019 at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 16 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. A CCW rosary will be held at 4:00 p.m. followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the church. 

Pauletta was born March 10, 1935 in rural Teutopolis, the daughter of Albert and Dorothy (Brummer) Deters. She married Raymond L. Will on June 29, 1957 and he preceded her in death on March 28, 2009.

After graduating from Teutopolis High School in 1952, she was employed as a secretary for the late M.C. Callen, attorney in Effingham. Following her marriage, she was a secretary in the Horticulture Department at the University of Illinois while her husband Ray completed his studies for his Bachelor’s degree. Later she was secretary for the Department of Children and Family Services, working in the Effingham Field Office and retiring after 21 years of service. 

Pauletta was a fan of Cardinal baseball and Illini basketball. She was an avid pinochle player, but most of all enjoyed her family. 

Surviving are her daughters, Susan (Alan) Gillespie of Teutopolis and Diane (Jeff) Weiss of McKinney, TX; son, Anthony “Tony” (Denise) of Teutopolis; brothers, Don (Norma) Deters and Ray (Jeanie) Deters, both of Teutopolis; grandchildren, Matthew (Dr. Maria Gomez) Gillespie, Kelly (Bryan) Chapman, Laura (Joe) Schultz, Landon, Abby, Bailey and Chloe Weiss, Darren and Cody Will and Amber (Clayton) Posten; great-grandchildren, Ella, Tucker and Leonardo “Leo”.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Mary Ann Deters and Betty Ruholl and brother-in-law, Andrew Ruholl.
