Anna Lou Stone, age 78, of Sainte Marie, Illinois, passed away at 12:03 AM Monday, April 29, 2019, at Ridgeview Care Center in Oblong, Illinois.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 4, at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois, with Fr. Dean Probst celebrating mass. Burial will be in the St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sainte Marie, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-7:00 PM Friday at the church. There will also be visitation from 9:30-10:30 AM Saturday before the mass. In loving memory of Anna Lou, memorials may be made to the Sainte Marie Foundation or Jasper County Senior Citizens Meals on Wheels program. Anna Lou was born on April 8, 1941, in Clay County, Illinois, the daughter of Adam and Monica (Kuenstler) Buerster. She married Edward R. “Bud” Stone on November 26, 1959, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on July 5, 2004.

Anna Lou was co-owner with her husband of E.R. Stone Heavy Equipment in Sainte Marie, Illinois. She was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Sainte Marie, Illinois.

Anna Lou enjoyed family, especially her grandchildren, gardening, flowers, and attending Monday night dances at Sainte Marie.

Anna Lou was always willing to lend a hand. She volunteered her time St. Mary’s Church, Sainte Marie Foundation, Sainte Marie Community Club and meals on wheels program of the Jasper County Senior Citizens.

Anna Lou is survived by: Children – Diane Houdasheldt (Dennis Hasty) of Oblong, Illinois; Susan (Tony) Madlem of Oblong, Illinois; Steve (Rosemary) Stone of Glenarm, Illinois; Dave (Gina) Stone of St. Joseph, Illinois; Julia (Dave) Turner of Hudson, Illinois; John (Michelle) Stone of Newton, Illinois; Michael (Cheryl) Stone of Zionsville, Indiana and Brenda (Heath) Womack of Crosby, Texas; Daughter-in-law – Amy Stone of Robinson, Illinois' 25 Grandchildren; 19 Great Grandchildren; Brothers – Tom (Martha) Buerster of Wendelin, Illinois and Paul (Michelle) Buerster of Charleston, Illinois; Sisters – Teresa (Bob) Ritz of Effingham, Illinois and Mary Jane Keller of Spokane, Washington.

Anna Lou was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Mark Stone; grandson Nate Stone, son-in-law Rick Houdasheldt, sisters Rita Proctor and Edith McDonald.
