George W. Happe (97) of Effingham

Twenty years after losing his wife, life partner and best friend, George Happe joined his wife, Dale, in the presence of his Lord Jesus Christ on Thursday, March 28, 2019.

George, 97, was a member of the Greatest Generation, a World War II veteran, and a graduate of Colgate University and Northwestern University. He met Dale in 1950. They lived numerous places and raised two children, Gregg Happe and Nina Happe-Warner. George’s business career was as a market analyst with diverse expertise in communication, international mining, and commercial packaging. Enjoying a long retirement in Asheville, NC, he had made many good friends. Special among these is a travel companion and confidant, Hatha Dodge.

George is survived by his children, Gregg (Lynda) Happe of Carolina Beach, NC, and Nina (Gene) Warner of Stewardson, IL; grandchildren, Jason (Cari) Happe of Apex, NC, Lisa (Kenny) Castille of Oceanside, CA, Christopher (fianceé, Lisa Mueller) Warner of Kirkland, WA, and Michael (Megan) Warner of Peru, IL; great-grandchildren, Bodie Happe, Alex Castille, Monroe Warner, and Maddux Warner. George’s family would like to acknowledge and thank special caregivers, Linda Brock and Brenda Stewart, as well as the special staff at the Villas of Holly Brook in Effingham.
