Rosemary was born August 31,1924 in Chicago Heights, the daughter of Louis and Della (Hakman) Swingler. She married the love of her life, Virgil J. Lueken on June 18, 1946, in Teutopolis. He preceded her in death on January 23, 1982. Rosemary was a true matriarch of her family. She dedicated her entire life to loving and caring for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. After her husband’s death at such a young age, Rosemary persevered as an independent woman, working for a short time at the Teutopolis Press and Dieterich Gazette. She was a member of the W.S. Broom bowling team and played pinochle monthly with her longtime friends. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, working crossword puzzles and could be seen on her Schwinn bicycle each evening in her earlier years. Rosemary was very fond of watching the birds in her backyard, especially the Wrens, Robins and Hummingbirds. She was also a life long member of St. Francis Church, St. Francis CCW and Effingham C D of A.

Rosemary constantly showed her unwavering love for her children and was the ultimate doting grandmother as well, always ready to drop everything to babysit, attend a birthday celebration, sporting event or musical performance. She was very proud of all her grandchildren and loved them with all her heart. But she may have loved the St. Louis Cardinals just as much!

Rosemary is survived by her children, Mark (Judy) Lueken of Teutopolis, Cindy (Dave) Will of Peoria, Nancy (Fiancé Dale Staples, deceased) of Princeton, IL,  Robert (Donna) Lueken of Effingham, Anita (Chuck) Deters of Teutopolis; grandchildren, Angie Nelson, Greg Lueken, Matt Lueken, Lisa Rock, Nicole Jack, Christina Siders, Melissa Weber, Robert (Rob) Lueken, Maria Lueken, Drew Deters, Celeste Stombaugh, Christian Deters, Joel Deters and 20 great grandchildren. Sisters, Ellouise Wallin, Karen (Jerry) Wente, Arlene Bushue, and sisters-in-law, Reta Swingler and Marilyn Lueken.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Dennis, brothers, Robert Swingler, Gerald (Jerry) Swingler, Louis (Butch) Swingler, sister and brother-in-law Jeanette and Leonard (Corky) Wernsing, brothers-in-law, Harold Bushue and Erv Lueken, sister in law Mary Swingler, great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Nelson.
