Dorothy A. Levitt, 87 of Effingham, passed away Thursday morning, February 14, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 18 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Dorothy was born January 14, 1932 in Effingham, the daughter of Anthony and Cecelia (Koester) Tegenkamp. She married Carl E. Levitt on April 18, 1951 and he preceded her in death in 2004. Dorothy worked for many years at World Color Press in Effingham and was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Carl A. (Sherry) Levitt of Effingham; daughters; Christy (John) Taylor of Effingham, Julie (Ron) Layton of Effingham and Leann Levitt (Curt) of Columbus, IN; sister, Ramona Dirks of Effingham; 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great-grandchild, Lennon Balcer; siblings, Paul Tegenkamp, Arthur Tegenkamp, Lawrence Tegenkamp, Edith Brummer, Janette Golden, Anthony Tegenkamp and Jerome Tegenkamp.
