Kenneth William "Kenny" Mielke, 96, of Wheeler died at 7:24am Thursday, February 14, 2019 at Helia Healthcare in Effingham.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM – Friday, February 22, 2019, at the Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, Illinois, with full military rites by the Dieterich American Legion Post #628.  In loving memory of Kenneth, memorials may be made to the Dieterich Meals on Wheels c/o Norma Deters 102 West Virginia Street Dieterich, Illinois 62424.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois.

Kenneth William better known as “Kenny” was born November 3, 1922, in Wheeler, Illinois, the son of Walter and Susan (Yoder) Mielke.  He married Mary Miller on December 21, 1981, and she survives.  

Kenny served his country in the United States Army Air Force during WWII, from July 22, 1942 until September 15, 1945.

Kenny owned and operated Ken’s Sinclair Station and Wheeler Grocery Store in Wheeler, Illinois, for many years.  He also served as the road commissioner for North Muddy Township for 24 years.

Kenny was a member of the Dieterich American Legion Post #628.  He enjoyed pitching horseshoes and bowling.

Kenny is survived by his Wife of 37 years – Mary Mielke, Daughters – Victoria Whitehurst of Mt. Carmel, Patti (Roger) Swick of Newton, Step Son – Barry (Kelly) Miller of Brownstown, Grandchildren – Stephanie Yager Hampton of Scottsdale, Arizona; Aimee (Jason) Sax of Chicago; Jessica (Bill) Flowers of Newton, Aaron (Jessica) Swick of Newton; Great Grandchildren – Olivia Flowers, Isaac Flowers, Victoria Sax and Harper Swick, 4 Step Grandchildren,1 Step Great Grandchild

Kenny was preceded in death by his parents and brother Donald Yoder.
