Phillis Jean Sain, 82, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 8:14 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2019 in HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital, Decatur.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 18 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Linda Trent officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the 4th Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, IL.

Phillis was born on March 24, 1936 in Salem, IL, the daughter of Theodore “Ted” and Bessie (Lightfoot) Embser. She graduated from Shelbyville High School in the Class of 1954. Phillis married William “Bill” Sain on March 12, 1955. She worked as a bookkeeper and office manager for James H. Breeding Accounting and Tax Service in Shelbyville, three chiropractors and Olivewood Health Care over the years. She owned and operated Teri’s Clothing Store on Main Street in Shelbyville in the mid-1980s and served as Rose Twp. Supervisor from 1989 - 2009.   Phillis also worked for Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL. She was a member and served as treasurer of the 4th Street United Methodist Church in Shelbyville, IL. Phillis enjoyed working in her yard, shopping, and spending time with her friends and family.

She is survived by her daughter, Teri Lynn Legner (Tom) of Bloomington, IL; step-son, David Sain of Shelbyville, IL; two granddaughters, Katherine Legner (Trent Sherman) of Champaign, IL and Jamie Legner of Virginia Beach, VA; step-great grandchildren, Mia and Miles Sherman both of Champaign, IL; and niece, Tia Studebaker and her family of Menifee, CA.

Phillis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill Sain on May 24, 1993; and brother, Robert “Bob” Embser (Donna).
