Orris Arthur Seng (93) of Windsor

Orris Arthur Seng, 93, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 6, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon.

Orris was born April 4, 1925, in Roberts, Illinois, the son of Arthur Dewey and Alma Frederika (Brauman) Seng.  Orris and Lois Ellen Wilson were united in marriage on May 19, 1946 in Piper City, Illinois and celebrated 60 years of marriage before her passing on March 17, 2007.  Orris was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater.  He was a graduate of Roberts High School, the University of Illinois and had advanced degrees from Eastern Illinois University.  He was a teacher, coach and administrator at Windsor High School from 1951 to 1983.  He cherished those 32 years working with the staff and students of Windsor. He was also a National Weather Service reporter and a Sunday school teacher, both for over 30 years.  He was a member of the Windsor High School Hall of Fame, life member of the Windsor United Methodist Church, Garrett-Baldridge Post 725 American Legion of Windsor and the Windsor Kiwanis.  He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, golfing, birdwatching and gardening.      

Surviving are sons:  John Seng of Champaign, IL, Michael (Susan) Seng of Birmingham, AL and Jeffrey (Gundega) Seng of Springfield, VA; grandchildren:  Paige (Bobby) Law of Knoxville, TN, Jordan (Leah) Seng of Birmingham, AL, Ashley (Nolan) Williams of Birmingham, AL, Matt Seng of Champaign, IL, Arthur Seng of Springfield, VA and Sandra Seng of Springfield, VA; ten great-grandchildren and sister-in-law Jean Green of Bridgeville, PA.  

Preceding him in death are is parents; wife, Lois; In-laws, Bob and Leigh Thompson, Thees and Roberta Sterrenberg and John Green.  

Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Windsor United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Eident and Reverend Rena Whitcher officiating.  Burial will take place in Windsor Cemetery with military rites by the Garrett-Baldridge Post 725 American Legion of Windsor.  Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the Windsor United Methodist Church and from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.   Memorials may be made to the Garrett-Baldridge Post 725 American Legion or the Windsor United Methodist Church.  Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor is assisting the family.

The family would like to express their profound gratitude to all the friends who helped Orris navigate his later years.  Especially to Lee and Liz Slater, Larry and Susie Bouck, Dan and Brenda Baugher and Nancy Goodwin.
