Randal C. ‘Randy’ Dorr, 59, of Altamont passed away peacefully at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 6 at Christ’s Church, Effingham, with Rev. Jeff Michael officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont. Memorials may be made to the Whoo Hoo Sisterhood (Jolene Arend Giving Fund), the St. Peter Area Cancer Support Group or the donor’s choice.

Randy was a business owner, entrepreneur, farmer, husband, dad, brother and friend. Always the life of the party, Randy lived life to the fullest and encouraged everyone around him to do the same. A man of strong character and even stronger convictions, you always knew where Randy stood on any topic that you had the chance to discuss with him. His refreshing honesty and quick wit brought many of us to tears of laughter. You could usually find him on a tractor, at his shop, listening to his never ending music collection or enjoying a Jeep run with his beloved group of friends.

Randy was born on Sunday, August 16, 1959 in Vandalia to Charles and Vivian Sparling Dorr. He married Lisa Kay Arnold on Saturday, September 21, 1991 and she survives. He is also survived by daughters Kacy (Callan) Wickenhauser, Maroa, IL, Carly Dorr, Altamont, IL, and Cory Dorr, Altamont, IL and siblings Nancy (Bernie) Brown, Swisher, IA, Rick (Ellen) Dorr, St. Peter, IL, Melody Taylor, Gladewater, TX and Lori (Randy) Tappendorf, Altamont, IL. Granddaughter, Calla Wickenhauser and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Though a huge void will be left that he once filled, his memory and legacy will live on through his family and the countless friends he made along his journey.

Randy’s family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the many calls, cards, visits, gifts and encouraging words this community provided him with during his battle. He was loved and he knew it. He is finally at peace and for that we give thanks to God.
