Louise L. Hickman (82) of Charleston, formerly of Shumway

Louise L. Hickman, 82, of Charleston, Illinois, formerly of Shumway, Illinois, passed away at 3:30 P. M. Wednesday, September 26, 2018, in the Villas of Holly Brook of Charleston, Illinois.

Louise was born July 1, 1936 in Onarga. Illinois, the daughter of Harold and Lillian (Lawson) Nighsonger. Louise married Patrick M. Hickman, October 29, 1976 in Hoopeston, Illinois and Mr. Hickman passed away August 18, 2018. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Sigel, Illinois. She enjoyed writing poetry and songs, she loved birds, flowers and animals. She was a retired Custodian from Lake Land College of Mattoon, IL.

Mrs. Hickman leaves one son, Eric Sprehe and wife Angie of Metropolis, IL; three step children, Kevin Hickman, Kathy Thomason and husband Jerry all of Charleston, IL and Jennifer Hardin and husband Calvin of Arcola, IL; one brother, Edwin Nighsonger of Springfield, IL; one sister, Ruth Garrelts of Onarga, IL; sixteen grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hickman was also preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Maxine Measaw, Barbara Coleman and Pauline Tilstra.

A Celebration of Louise's life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, October 1 in St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Sigel, Illinois, with Pastor Earl Brown officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 A.M. Monday until service time at the Church. Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Gardens of Mattoon, Illinois. The Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
