Joelene Becker, 74, of Effingham, passed away at 12:14 p.m. Wednesday, January 9th, 2013, at St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham. 

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 14th, 2013, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham, with Dr. Joe Scheets officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham.

Joelene was born on November 9th, 1938, in Monroe City, IN, the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Wyantt) Wheeler. She married Jack Becker in Vincennes, IN, in 1960, and he survives.

Joelene was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. After 26 years of service, she retired as a nursing assistant from St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Joelene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. 

Joelene is survived by her husband, Jack Becker of Effingham; son, Jon (Susan) Becker of Mattoon; sister, Carol Devine of Vincennes, IN; and four grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, and two brothers.
