Betty June Yates, 93, of Kinmundy, IL died peacefully at the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont on Thursday, August 23, 2018.

Born September 16, 1924 in Bluff City, she was the daughter of Walter and Jane (Dixon) Rinkel. Early in her career, Betty worked at the Salem Shoe Factory. She later worked at Spartan Manufacturing in Flora, retiring with 25 years of faithful service. Of the Christian faith, she attended Brown Christian Church. She was an avid dancer, and loved attending the Edgewood Opera. On July 27, 1946, she was united in marriage with Victor Ernest Yates in Morganfield, KY. He preceded her in death in 1987.

Surviving are her children, Brad Yates and wife Sharon of Kinmundy, Pam Yates of Vandalia, and Carolyn Harrell and husband Eugene of Channahon. Also left to mourn her passing are her grandchildren, Joe, Chris, Denise and Mary, along with her great grandchildren, Stephanie, Sara, Emma, Megan, Miranda and Adam. She is also survived by her siblings, Ted Rinkel and wife Joyce of Farina, Gene Rinkel and wife Margaret of Mahomet, and Marjorie Warner and husband Louie of Vandalia.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers Walter, Lyle, Fenton, Merle and Richard Rinkel, and sisters Vera Gigar, Virginia Hickey and Eva House.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem with Jeff Blunt, minister, officiating. Burial will follow in the Elder Cemetery, Kinmundy. Visiting hours will be from 6-8:00 pm Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Care Center, or to the Kinmundy Food Pantry and will be accepted by the Rankin Funeral Home, entrusted with the family's care.
