Clinton "Gene" Eugene Griffy, age 90 of Louisville, passed away Friday, August 10th at his home.  

Gene was born on April 20, 1928 in Blair Township to the late Henry and Bernice (Erwin) Griffy. He married Florence Heiden on December 22, 1951 in Florence’s parents’ home in Hord. She survives.

Mr. Griffy served his country and enlisted in the United States Army. He later worked for the International Shoe Company and World Color Press until his retirement.

Gene enjoyed rabbit hunting and running beagle dogs, gardening, listening to blue grass music. He was a member of the Red Brush Christian Church in Louisville and instrumental in the construction of the new church. Gene loved spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Alan (Vicki) Griffy of Louisville, Roger (Linda) Griffy of Louisville, daughter Brenda (Gene) Wilson of Herrick, a sister Zelda (Buck) Dulaney of Louisville, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Red Brush Christian Church in Louisville with Pastor Cecil Cochran officiating. Interment will follow in Red Brush Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be held from 9 am until the time of service on Monday at the church. Memorials may be made to Red Brush Christian Church or to HSHS Home Care and Hospice, Southern Illinois Division-Hospice Unit.
