Douglas P. Collins, 56, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Monday, August 6, 2018 at his home.

A private family Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham is assisting the family.

Douglas was born on July 24, 1962, in Decatur, IL, the son of William Q. and Barbara J. (Bauer) Collins. He was united in marriage to Robin Wiedman on October 7, 1988 in Effingham. As a man of faith, he was very hardworking, and his drive to willingly help others was unbelievable. Doug was an energetic and fun-loving man who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and being a committed Dallas Cowboys fan. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Effingham Elks, Effingham Knights of Columbus, and Sunrise Rotary.

Doug is survived by his wife, Robin Collins of Effingham; son, Alex (Lauren) Collins of Effingham; daughter, Hillary Collins of Indianapolis, IN; grandson, Greyson Patrick Collins; siblings, Debbie (Rick) Highcock of Decatur and William (Denise) Collins of Mt. Zion; mother-in-law, Mary K. Wiedman of Effingham; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hal (Penny) Wiedman, Kent (Cyndi) Wiedman, Roberta (Dave) Martin, Beth Wiedman, and Todd Wiedman; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John in infancy and Michael; father-in-law, Robert Wiedman; and sister-in-law, Carol Miller.
