Tom R. Guy, 74. of rural Mattoon, Illinois, passed away at 4:30 P.M. Thursday, July 12, 2018, at his residence.

Tom was born February  29, 1944, in Mattoon, Illinois, the son of Ramon and Virginia (Hendrix) Guy. He married Pam Fox, April 24, 1966 in Paradise Twp, Coles County, Illinois. He was co-owner of Shadow and Guy Heating and Air Conditioning in Mattoon, Illinois and Mattoon Heating and Air Conditioning. Tom was a member of the Zion Hill United Methodist Church in Paradise Township, Coles County, Illinois. He served in the United States Army from 1962 to 1965, serving in Ft. Leonard Wood, Ft. Knox, and Ft. Greeley in Alaska. Tom was also a member of the Etna Masonic Lodge # 179, Low 12, and a co-founder of the Hawg Dawg Bass Club.

Tom leaves his wife, Pam Guy of rural Mattoon, IL, after fifty-two years of marriage; one daughter, Kim Ewing (Sam) of Neoga, IL; one son, Jeff Guy (Angela) of Mattoon, IL; one brother, Tony Guy (Marty) of Liberty, NC; four sisters, Sandy Centrone (Budd), Lynn Odom (Jim), Tina Jones (Tony) and Vickie Wright (Doug) all of Vero Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Andrew Ewing (Ashley), Jacob Guy, Rachel Ewing, Sean Langley and Hiedi Jackson; one great grandson Waylon Guy on the way; three step great grandchildren, Ronald, Pernell and Amari Jackson.

Mr. Guy was preceded in death by his parents, step-parents Orville Thompson and Berdina Guy; and one sister, Debbie Daigle (Mike).

Donations may be made to the Zion Hill United Methodist Church, Zion Hill Cemetery, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the Wounded Warriors Project.

Celebration of Tom's life will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 18 in the Zion Hill United Methodist Church, rural Mattoon, IL, with pastor Gene Creek officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday in the Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, IL. Visitation will also be held one hour before the services on Wednesday at the Church. A Masonic service will be held at 5:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Funeral Home, conducted by the Etna Masonic Lodge # 179, A.F. & A.M., Etna, Illinois. Burial will be in the Zion Hill Cemetery, rural Mattoon, IL, with Military Services conducted by the Vataw - Swank Post # 458, American Legion of Neoga, IL.
