Ronald D. Phillips, 75, of Toledo, Illinois, passed away at 8:30 AM Friday, July 13, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services held be at 11:00 AM on Monday July 16, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 200 Charleston Ave in Mattoon. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM till service time on Monday at the church. Burial will be in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Sigel, IL. Arrangements assisted by Barkley Funeral Chapel in Toledo.

He was born on September 14, 1942, the son of Homer and Alice Phillips. After graduating from Neoga High School, he married the love of his life, Carolyn Jean Hollan from Oklahoma on April 29, 1962. Ron worked for Cap and Gown in Champaign, then later EIU where he retired as Assistant Director of Computer Services. Ron was an avid fisherman and deer hunter and enjoyed spending time with his wife and family. He attended St. John’s Lutheran Church where he served several years as an elder.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn; daughter, Diane (Robert) Greer of Fisher, IL; son, Mike (Jennifer) Phillips of Toledo, IL; and son, Don (Vicki) Phillips of Charleston, IL; 6 Grandchildren, Jessica (Andrue) Zulueta, Joanna (Brady) Davidson, Adam (Haley) Phillips, Kayla Greer, Christopher Phillips, Jonathon Phillips. 2 great grandchildren, Gideon and James Greer, 3 step grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren, one sister, Beth (Gary) Larson of Galesburg, IL. And one brother, Dennis (Sheri) Phillips of Grand Junction, CO.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 great grandchildren (Colin and Matthew Greer)
