Margaret Elizabeth “Betty” Noffke, 93, of Stewardson, IL, died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2018 in HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, July 2 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Stewardson, IL with Rev. David Weaver officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Sunday in the church. Burial will be in Stewardson Cemetery in Stewardson, IL. Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran School, Shelby County Cancer Society, and Stewardson Park and Playground. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Strasburg, IL.

She was born on March 10, 1925 in Strasburg, IL, the daughter of Rufus and Maurine (Richards) Kull. She married Kenneth Noffke on May 29, 1943 in Hattiesburg, MS. Betty and Kenny celebrated 50 years of marriage prior to his death in 1994. The matriarch of a large family, she was loved, liked, and well known in the community. Betty was a strong, kind, and generous force in the lives of her family and friends. She loved and was loved in return. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stewardson, as well as a member of the Trinity Ladies Aid and the Stewardson American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by five sons and three daughters: Kenton (Kathy) Noffke of Stephen’s City, VA, William (Christina) Noffke of Hattiesburg, MS, Karen (Joel Berman) Kaufman of Stewardson, Janice (Gary) Bridges of Stewardson, Kristine (Larry) Renshaw of Stewardson, James (Alicia Kessler) Noffke of Strasburg, Richard (Tina) Noffke of Trenton, IL, and Jonathan (Maggie) Noffke of Pewee Valley, KY. One uncle, Robert Richards of Crothersville, IN. One sister-in-law: Debbie Kull of Robinson, IL, and ten nieces and nephews. She is also survived by: twenty-four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and five step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and five siblings: Gene (Joyce), Frank, and J.J. (Vivian) Kull, Donna (Stanley) Butcher, and Carolyn (Bud) Smith, and one nephew, John Kull.
