Brett L. Johnson, 51, of Watson, IL, passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 28 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham, IL. Burial will be in Watson Cemetery in Watson, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.

Brett was born on July 4, 1966, in Flora, IL, the son of Richard “Dick” Johnson and Loretta (Smith) Woods. Brett loved his family with all his heart. He was married to his one true love for 30 years, Jan Johnson. Their children, Lance, Austin, Sarah, and granddaughter Azalea were his pride and joy. Brett was a brilliant craftsman, a hardworking man of great ingenuity. Brett loved his work in CNC programming, CNC machining, management, and woodworking. Brett was always helping others, full of wisdom and knowledge in health and wellness. He was a humble, strong man, with a true listening heart. Brett would give the shirt off his back and open his home to anyone in need. He loved being outside, having fires, the weather, football and rock-n-roll.

Brett is survived by his wife, Jan Johnson of Watson; children, Lance (Kender) Johnson of Mason, Austin Johnson of Effingham, and Sarah Johnson of Watson; granddaughter, Azalea Johnson of Mason; mother, Loretta (Charles) Woods of Watson; siblings, Curt (Amanda) Johnson of Mason, Mark (Kasandra) Johnson of Charleston, Darren (Cheryl) Johnson of Watson, and Deb (Stan) Alwardt of Edgewood.

He was preceded in death by his father.
