Mildred Rose Buff, 103, passed away Wednesday morning, June 13, 2018 at her home in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, St. Elmo. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham and for one hour prior to the funeral mass Monday morning in the church. Mildred was born October 11, 1914, the daughter of Peter and Katherine (Zacha) Vondenbosch. She married John Silvio Buff on February 1, 1941 in Altamont and he preceded her in death on February 19, 2006. Mildred worked as a cook for Holy Angels School, Convent and Church for many years. She also cooked for Franklin Junior High School and later worked at the Toy Factory, all in Aurora. Mildred was a 30 year member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, St. Ann’s Society of Holy Angels Church in Aurora, St. Anthony of Padua Council of Catholic Women and the Women of the Moose Club for 25 years.

Mildred is survived by her daughter, Frances of Effingham; sons, James (Mary Ann) of Dunwoody, GA and William (Glenna) Buff of Somerville, TN; grandchildren, Dr. Ann (Geoff Boyer) Buff of Chamblee, GA, Christina Geyeta-Anoop of Seattle, WA, Amy (Mark) Carek of Columbus, OH, Anthony (Keri) Buff of Bowling Green, OH, Julie (Andrew) Walter of Decatur, GA, Andrew (Audra) Buff of Apopka, FL and Karen (David) Johnson of Apopka, FL; thirteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, James Paul; one brother, five sisters, five brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
