Emma L. Temple, 72, of Effingham, IL formerly of Stewardson, IL passed away on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Effingham, IL. Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson, IL is assisting the family.

Emma was born February 19, 1946, in Stewardson, the daughter of Samuel and Lelah (Blue) Bivins. She married Gordon Temple on December 28, 1992 and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2013. Emma worked at the 76 Truck Stop in Effingham and as a CNA at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Effingham. She was a member of the Stewardson United Methodist Church and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and working crossword puzzles.

Emma is survived by two brothers: Harry Bivins and Sam Bivins Jr; sister, Carol (Ray) Blythe all of Effingham and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Samuel and Lelah Bivins; husband, Gordon Temple; three sisters: Delores Kuhns, Oka Mae Dasenbrock and Kay Blythe and three brothers: Ivan, Ralph “Bud” and Charles Bivins.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6 at Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson with private burial on Thursday at Stewardson Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
