Dale M. King, 87, of Mattoon, formerly of Jasper County died at 4:05am Saturday, December 29, 2012 at Gowin Parc in Mattoon.

Funeral services will be 12 noon Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Crain Funeral Home in Newton.  Visitation will be from 10am to noon Thursday.  Burial in Brockville Cemetery, rural Newton with military rites by Jasper American Legion Post #20.

He was born near Newton on April 4, 1925, the son of Ona M. and Ella Evelyn "Eva" (Guerrettaz) King.  He married Luella Maxine Miller on June 12, 1952 and she preceded him in death on May 24, 1987.  He was a World War II Navy veteran serving from 1943 to 1946 with a Naval Air Squadron in the Pacific Theater.  He graduated with the Newton Community High School Class of 1947.  He owned and operated D.M. King Advertising Company before going to work with General Electric Company where he retired with over 20 years' service.  He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Mattoon and a former member of the VFW, Moose and Eagles.

Survivors include two daughters, Kandra Lynn Coleman and husband Bert of Woodstock, Georgia and Brenda Dale Farrier and husband Scott of Mattoon...one son, David M. King of Mansfield, Georgia...two grandsons, Sloan William Farrier and Scott Brandon Farrier...and one brother, Daniel W. King and wife Bonnie of Wichita, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents...his wife...and brother William King.
