Frankie Joyce Myers was born on February 15, 1940, in Altamont, IL, the daughter of Frank and Lucille (Pippin) Myers. She married Robert Earl Loy on May 11, 1957 in Effingham, IL. He preceded her in death on September 16, 2015. Joy was employed at Fedders and Illinois Glove Factory as a young woman. Later in her career, she worked as a housekeeper for St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital and delivered a paper route for the Effingham Daily News. She also tended bar at the American Legion. The most important thing in Joy’s life was being with her family. She enjoyed playing games with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She loved playing cards like Euchre and Blitz. Bingo, Yahtzee and Dominos were games that she enjoyed playing, as well. She liked gambling, whether it be going to the casino or making bets with her children and grandchildren, but she never bet more than a quarter, and only if it was a sure bet. Dancing was one of Joy’s favorite activities. But most of all, her time was best spent visiting with her family, friends, and neighbors, especially her Wednesday night family dinners.

Joy is survived by her four children, Lucille (Mike) Rutner of Mesquite, NV, Pamela (Bruce) Monaco of Chanute, KS, Sandra Loy (Dedra Linn) of Effingham, and Robert J. (Penni) Loy of Effingham; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores “Sis” (Herman) Cornell of Effingham; six sisters-in-law, Virginia Wendt of Watson, Mary Lou (Ervin) Yocum of Edgewood, Rita Yocum of Effingham, Irene Pocrnich of Effingham, Susan (James) Feldhake of Effingham, and Judy (David) Ochs of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her beloved dog: Tinkerbell.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers; loving husband, Robert Loy; grandson, Brian Lee Compton; and her beloved dog, Mollie-Mae. Joy will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
