Charles "Tom" Ethington, 82, of Trilla, Illinois passed away at 6:00 A. M. Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at his residence in Trilla, Illinois.

Tom was born July 23, 1925, in Charleston, Illinois, the son of Charles and Eoline (Kounce) Ethingham. He was retired from the Bunny Bread Company. Tom served in the United States Army and was active in the D-Day Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. He married Betty Redfern, May 18, 1946, in Trilla, Illinois and Betty passed away January 5, 2016.

Tom leaves five sons, Gary Ethington and wife Sandy of Morriston, FL, Charlie Ethington of Lerna, IL, Tommy Ethington and wife Marsha of Phoenix, AZ, Rick Ethington and wife Julie, Barry Ethington all of Trilla, IL; four daughters, Etta Walsh of Oakland, IL, Brenda Himes and husband Larry of Trilla, IL, Cindy Smith of Neoga, IL and Janie Hildebrand and husband Bob of Mattoon, IL; twenty-three grandchildren, fifty-eight great grandchildren and ten great great grandchildren.

Mr. Ethington was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty Ethington; one brother, Jack Ethington; three son-in-laws, Bill Walsh, John Heiman and Elmer Smith; one daughter-in-law, Beverly Ethington; one grandson, Charles William, Jr. and one great granddaughter, Daisy Ann.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 A. M. Monday, May 7 in the Beals Cemetery, Trilla, Illinois, with Pastor Gary Ethington of Fort Worth, TX, officiating. Swengel-O'Dell Funeral Home of Neoga, IL, is in charge of arrangements.
