Marvin E. Abendroth (95) of St. Elmo

Marvin E. Abendroth, 95, of St. Elmo, IL. passed away at 10:25 a.m. Monday December 24, 2012 at Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29 with 1 hour viewing prior at Fairview Church. Burial  Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 28 at C & A Pagel Funeral Home in St. Elmo, IL. Memorials may be made to the family.

Marvin was born May 19, 1917 in Fayette County, son of Albert E. and Dora L. (Zimmer) Abendroth.  He married Betty June Barbee on May of 1940. Marvin was a retiree of Brownstown Lumber.  He was also a milk hauler for 30 some years, a farmer and he mowed 41 lawns in the St. Elmo area. He was a member of the Fairveiw Methodist church.

Surviving is his daughter, Betty (late husband, Joseph E.) Dunn of St. Elmo...Sisters, Mary Ellen Francis Kilzer and Verna Marlene Lewis both of Brownstown, IL...daughter-in-law Lorene Abendroth (late husband Charles E. Abendroth) of St. Elmo, IL...8 grandchildren, 29 Great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four sisters Sophia Richards of St. Elmo, Freida Klukis of Vandalia, Velma Cosper of Brownstown and Elna Haslet of Brownstown, and four brothers Earl Abendroth of St. Elmo, William Dean Abendroth of Brownstown, Raymond Abendroth of Vandalia, and Orville Abendroth of St. Elmo...and one great-grandchild Christopher G. Harre of Brownstown.
