Glynn G. Shubert, 86, of Watson, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham with his loving wife by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13 at Centenary United Methodist Church in Effingham. Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday in Elkton Cemetery in Elkton, IL. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Little Wabash Longbeards, Ballard Nature Center, Centenary United Methodist Church, and Elkton Cemetery Fund.

Glynn was born on December 8, 1931, in Lively Grove, Washington County, IL, the son of Arthur C. and Katherine D. (Kinzel) Shubert. He was united in marriage to Lois Peterson and to this union three children were born: Renee L., Richard G., and Jay Kevin. He later married Marjorie C. (Tubbs) Hildebrand on November 21, 1971.

Glynn had a passion for hunting turkey and deer and was a strong supporter for the preservation of the hunting sport. In his younger years, he also enjoyed bird hunting. Glynn served at the national, state, and local level for the National Wild Turkey Federation Board of Directors. Throughout his life, he received several prestigious awards in the NWTF for his efforts and dedication. Glynn always enjoyed living in their log home in the woods and sharing the outdoors with his family. He liked to garden and enjoyed singing in choirs his entire life. Along with the NWTF, Glynn was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, the NRA, and an over fifty-year member of the Farm Bureau.

Glynn is survived by his wife, Marjorie Shubert of Watson; children, Reneé (Mark) Spenny of Peoria, Richard (Gina) Shubert of Naples, FL, and Kevin (Lorna) Shubert of Sparta; step-children, Alan (Reneé) Hildebrand of Mattoon and Vicki (Phil) Dhom of St. Charles, MO; grandchildren, Brandon Haake, Ambra (Shane White) Haake, Jessica (Cliff) Morine, Mitchell Shubert, Benjamin Shubert, Kenneth Shubert, Lindsey (Dan) Pheiffer, and Erika (Dustin) Brooks; 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Kathryn (John) Obermeier of Norris City; and special niece, Sandra Rennegarbe-Epplin of Okawville.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Mildred (Arnold) White, Leona (Bill) Koenig, Arthur K. “Budd” (Leona) Shubert, Alverna (Floyd) Campbell, LaVon (Paul) Campbell, R.W. “Bill” Shubert, and Wade (Margaret) Shubert.
