Christine E. Niebrugge (92) of Effingham

Christine E. Niebrugge, 92, of Effingham, IL passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018, at Lakeland Rehabilitation & Health Care Center in Effingham, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 19, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to St. Anthony Schools.

Christine was born on November 25, 1925, in (Green Creek) Effingham, IL, the daughter of Ben and Mary (Meyer) Doedtman. She was united in marriage to Andrew Niebrugge on May 4, 1946 and he preceded her in death on November 27, 1974. Christine was a farm wife who enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. Christine was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and attended daily when able. She always liked visiting with her friends and relatives. Every year she made pies and cross-stitched things for the church picnic. Christine also liked to watch TV. As an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, she enjoyed listening to them play on the radio and TV. Christine was always thankful for her church family and the school children who came to sing and visit while she cared for her son, Terry Lee, for 48 years.

Christine is survived by her son, Michael J. (Susan “Suzi”) Niebrugge of Effingham; granddaughters, Michelle (Matt) Stoneburner of Dieterich, and Tisha Niebrugge of Effingham; sister, Agnes Deters of Sigel; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Johnny Niebrugge and Terry Lee Niebrugge; brothers, Frank, Clem, George, and Richard; and sisters, Isabel Bloemer and Elizabeth Bergfeld.
