Gladys Aliene Pearce (95) of Flora

Gladys Aliene Pearce, age 95, of Flora, Illinois, passed away Friday evening, February 9, 2018, at Heritage Woods of Flora.

Aliene was born November 5, 1922, in Wayne County, the daughter of Earl and Amy (Stanford) Davis. She married Harold W. Pearce on November 8, 1941, in Clay County, and together they shared 54 years of marriage. He preceded her in death February 17, 1996.

Aliene was a caring wife, mother and grandmother who simply enjoyed her daily life and was genuinely thankful. She worked with Harold helping take care of the farm for many years including raising horses, and in recent years embraced her transition to Heritage Woods and appreciated the friends and neighbors she had there. 

Aliene was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church. She had worked at the shoe factory, Roadmaster, and as a cook at The Pavilion. 

She is survived by her children: Carolyn Berger of Effingham, Genelle (Steve) Beck of Olney, Gary (Nancy) Pearce of Flora, Sue Pearce of Springfield, Edie (Wade) Jones of Louisville, Fran Pearce of Sells, Arizona, Tim (Cheri) Pearce of Bridgeport, Ed Pearce of Carmi, and Steve (Norma) Pearce of Crossville; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and another great-great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces and nephews.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son: William H. Pearce; a granddaughter: Jamie Sue Armstrong; 3 great-grandsons: Brock Berger, Christian Joel Branom, and Justin England; a son-in-law: Don Berger; 5 brothers: Clarence, Loren, Ray, Bill, and Don Davis; and an infant brother and an infant sister.

A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 13 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, officiated by Rev. Gary Pearce, assisted by Pastor Jill Bunker. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to either Harmony United Methodist Church or Meal On Wheels and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
