Evelyn Montgomery, 99, formerly of Louisville passed away at 1:38 pm on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, at Heartland Christian Village in Neoga, IL.

Arrangments are entrusted to J.W. Neal Funeral Home of Louisville where the family will receive friends from 10:00 am to 11:00 am Saturday, February 3. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Memorial contributions may be sent to Lutheran World Relief and will be received at the funeral home. Evelyn was born Thursday, December 19, 1918 in Clay County, to Robert and Mabel (Giddings) Fancher. She married George Montgomery on September 21, 1939 in Louisville. He preceded her in death on July 7, 1995. Evelyn worked as a cook for North Clay Community High School for many years. She was a member of United Methodist Church in Louisville. Evelyn enjoyed cooking, needle point, and antiquing.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Judy (Paul) Wendling of Effingham; two grandchildren, Sara Sandifer and Steven (Jill) Wendling of Effingham; and five great grandchildren, Christopher, Sean and Ryan Sandifer and Jackson and Meredith Wendling; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbnad of over 50 years; parents; brothers, Holly, Bill and Tip Fancher; sisters, Bonnie Wolff and Irma Collins; and three siblings in infancy.
